What Is the Davis-Bacon Act?

The Davis-Bacon Act requires contractors and subcontractors working on federally funded construction contracts worth $2,000 or more to pay workers no less than the locally prevailing wages and fringe benefits for the type of work performed.

Prevailing wages are established by the U.S. Department of Labor and published as wage determinations (WDs) — one per county, per construction type (building, heavy, highway, or residential).
